- Go to the Academics Tab > click on Courses.

- School: Select the school the course will be offered at
- Category Code: Select the appropriate code for the course
- Course Number: Enter the numerical part of the Course Code, i.e. the Course Number for ANA101 would be 101.
- Internal Suffix: an optional field, it will internally note what campus the course belongs to. For example, if ANA101 is only offered at the Tulsa Campus, you could add an internal suffix of “T”. It would then display throughout VIAS as ANA101 T. This suffix would be hidden from transcript and student view.
- Course Code: enter the complete course code, i.e. ANA101
4. In the next section, “Course Details,“ you will need to fill out the following fields:

- Course Name: the official, full name of the course
- Sessions: the number of times the class will meet in a term
- Night Sessions:
- Program Director: the person responsible for oversight of the course
- Max Capacity: an optional field, this will override room capacity if filled out
- Overload Capacity
- Requires Liability Insurance: check the box if it is required by the course, i.e. nursing clinicals
- Is Capstone: check this box if this course must be the last course in the program
- Can Test Out: check this box if the institution will offer a bypass or test out for this course
- Requires Scrubs: check this box if students are required to wear scrubs to this class
- Grade Threshold: select from the drop-down list the grade needed to pass the course
- Start: select from the drop-down the date the course will first be offered
- End: only select an end date if you are expiring the class
- Program Earn Required
- Issue Clinical Survey
5. Enter the following fields for the “Hours” section of the course:

- Credit Hours: the number of credit hours the course is approved by your accrediting agency to run
- Contact: the number of contact hours approved by your accrediting agency
- Classroom Hours: optional field
- Drop Threshold: the percentage the student is allowed to miss of the course before they are dropped from it; this Drop Threshold will be used in populating the Tardy/Absent report which is how attendance is monitored
- Clinical Drop Threshold: the percentage of the clinical the student is allowed to miss before they are dropped from it; leave blank if there is not a clinical component for the course
- Lab: number of lab hours students will receive in the course
- Lecture: number of lecture hours students will receive in the course
- Clinical: number of clinical hours students will receive in the course
- Enter the following if the course is Clock Hour instead of Credit Hour:
- Clock lecture hours: the number of lecture hours the students must complete
- Clock Lab Hours: the number of lab hours the students must complete; leave blank if there is not a lab component
- Clock Clinical Hours: the number of clinical hours the students must complete; leave blank if there is not a clinical component
6. Click Save. The course has now been added to the Master Course Listing.
