How to Import a Lead to a Student

When a Lead is imported and made a Student, they are assigned a student ID number.  This process must be completed for every Start Date. When a Lead is added to the Start List, they are added to the Import list. The Import List is under the Students Tab. Once the Start List has been finalized and most items for admission are complete, you are ready to Import the Leads into Students. Even though the Students are assigned a Student ID number and portal username, they are not counted in the Active population until they are admitted into a Program.

  1. Go to the Students tab, then click on Import.
  2. Select the term that the student is scheduled to begin and click Search
  3. Click on Make Student next to the Student’s Name you want to select.
  4. Once you click on Make Student, you will be taken to the Student Page.
  5. Once on the Student Page, scroll down and click on Edit Student. You must select Male or Female and then save. Then, the lead will be assigned a Student ID number and a username for their Student Portal.

Gender requirements are used for your institution's federal IPEDS reporting.  It is good practice to add other demographic information at this time: Citizenship, Ethnicity, and Race.  IPEDS also requires first time freshman and other post secondary education information.  While on this page the admissions rep needs to add if the student has attended another institution, this allow the registrar to know to look at transcripts for transfer credit. Without this data, IPEDS reports will have missing data.
