Program Plan Templates

Program Plan Templates lay out the courses taken in each term in a given program. When a new student is enrolled in a program, they will automatically be enrolled in the Program Plan Template for that program. The Program Plan Templates are also used by Financial Aid to provide Estimated Award Letters for the Students. Program Plan Templates can be modified on the Student Page to account for transfer of credit, bypass credit, preference, etc. when necessary. You can view, add, edit, and expire Program Plan Templates by going to the Academics Tab > Programs > click on Program Plan Templates. 

Program Plan Templates have Start and End dates so that an accurate history of them can be stored in VIAS for reference purposes. When a Program Plan Template expires (which could be a result of program director preference, changes in the curriculum, etc.), you can simply add the End Date and create another Program Plan Template.

 

How to Add and Expire a Program Plan Template 

  1. Go to the Academics tab > Programs > click on Program Plan Templates.

2.   Click the Add Plan tab.

3.   Enter the following information: 
    1. School: the school the program will belong to 
    2. Program: select from the drop-down list the Program Code 
    3. Type: check if the Program Plan Template will run on a Full Start or a Mini Start 
    4. Name: Enter a Name for the Program Plan Template, i.e. Dental Assisting Nights 
    5. Start: Enter the date two terms before the actual start of the new Program Plan Template. 
    6. End: Only enter an End date if you are expiring the Program Plan Template 
    7. Default Plan: Check this box if this is the most recent Program Plan Template for this Program 

4. Click Save. 

5.   Next, you will see a list of all the courses you assigned to the Program. You need to add each term and drag and drop each course into the term you would like to assign it to. 

6.   Once you have scheduled all courses into the term, click the blue Save Courses button.
