The Complete Guide to Adding a New Program to your Institution.

Congratulations! Your institution is growing and adding a new program to VIAS. Adding a new program is a collaborative effort between student service and FA directors. Follow the checklist below to add a new program.

  1. Terms:
Will the new program align with the terms of your existing programs? If it does not, a new term sequence will be necessary to accommodate the new terms. The VIAS development team is responsible for creating this new term sequence, while users with access to the academic tab can create new terms. It is important to adhere to specific guidelines when adding terms; notably, terms must not have overlapping dates within the same term sequence. For further details on these term regulations and instructions on how to add terms for your program, please refer to the article below.

However, a term may be deactivated if it has no associated data. To deactivate a mistaken start, it is necessary to inform the VIAS team for proper handling.

Each course may be affiliated with one or more programs and encompasses various elements such as credit hours, contact hours, attendance thresholds, grading scales, course mappings, syllabi, and scheduled days/times.
